Communications Associate

The Role:

Miles Kennedy is seeking a mid-level communications and public relations professional to join the agency. This position requires excellent written and oral communications skills and a self-starter disposition. The ideal candidate is an agile, strategic-thinking individual with a love for the news, politics, entertainment and media.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
• Support and assist the founder in various agency related activities
• Execute media plans and pitch announcements on behalf of clients
• Draft communications materials such as press releases, talking points, op-eds, etc.
• Build media relationships with reporters, editors, bookers and producers in print, digital, radio, TV, streaming and podcasts
• Keep up-to-date media contact lists

The successful candidate must have a desire to work hard and learn new things in a fast-paced work environment. Responsiveness and accountability are key.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required in communications, journalism, marketing, political science, law or a similarly related field
• 2-4 years PR/marketing/communications experience
• Exceptional writing skills along with strong presentation and oral communication skills

• Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Have existing knowledge of the media landscape
• Solid understanding of brand communications and demonstrated success in managing highly visible corporate PR matters
• Powerful interpersonal skills; experience in a relationship-based position that requires engaging with many stakeholders and requires effective communication skills to influence outcomes
• Ability to make sound decisions quickly and efficiently
